Tallahassee, FL – Several former Florida State Seminoles have secured opportunities in the NFL as undrafted free agents (UDFAs) after going unselected in the 2024 NFL Draft. Despite not hearing their names called during the seven-round event, these players have signed with teams eager to bolster their rosters with proven talent.

Key Signings and Opportunities

Among the notable signings, defensive back Jarrian Jones agreed to a deal with the Jacksonville Jaguars, while wide receiver Johnny Wilson joined the Philadelphia Eagles. Both players were considered potential late-round picks but will now look to prove their worth in training camp.

  • Jarrian Jones (CB) – Known for his versatility and physicality, Jones recorded 25 tackles and three interceptions in 2023. The Jaguars, seeking depth in their secondary, could provide him a path to a roster spot.
  • Johnny Wilson (WR) – At 6’7″, Wilson’s size and catch radius make him a unique prospect. The Eagles, who value big-bodied receivers, could utilize him as a red-zone threat.
  • Defensive lineman Fabien Lovett also found a new home, signing with the San Francisco 49ers, a team renowned for developing defensive talent.

Why UDFA Signings Matter

While the draft garners most of the attention, undrafted free agency has become a crucial avenue for teams to uncover hidden gems. Many NFL stars, including Hall of Famers like Warren Moon and current standouts like James Robinson, began their careers as UDFAs.

Florida State has a strong track record of producing NFL talent, and these signings reflect the program’s continued influence. “It’s not about how you get there, it’s what you do when you arrive,” said FSU head coach Mike Norvell in a recent press conference.

What’s Next for the Seminoles?

The players will report to their respective teams for rookie minicamps in the coming weeks, where they’ll compete for roster spots or practice squad roles. Their performances in offseason programs will determine whether they earn a place on the 53-man roster.

For Seminoles fans, these signings offer hope that more FSU alumni will make an impact in the NFL this season.
