New launches from Honda, TVS, and Bajaj, among others, highlight the evolution of two-wheelers in India.

India, the world’s largest two-wheeler market and second-largest two-wheeler manufacturer, is witnessing a significant shift towards electric two-wheelers. Estimates suggest a substantial growth from 944,000 units in FY24 to 13.75 million units by FY30. This growth is further propelled by the country’s ambitious goal of establishing 1.32 million charging stations by 2030.

The Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025, India’s premier global mobility event, underscored this thrust towards green mobility. The expo, which commenced on January 17, 2025, and concluded on January 22, 2025, provided a platform for showcasing the latest advancements in electric two-wheelers and sustainable mobility solutions.

 

 

Honda Activa e

 

Honda, the renowned automaker, has made a groundbreaking move by introducing the Activa e, a significant leap in the evolution of its best-selling scooter. This electric model seamlessly merges the timeless legacy of the Activa with cutting-edge technology, promising an impressive range of approximately 100 kilometers per charge. While retaining the distinctive design of its petrol-powered counterpart, subtle adjustments have been made to accommodate the electric components, ensuring a seamless transition for loyal users. Moreover, Honda has integrated smart connectivity features, including mobile app integration for battery tracking and navigation, which are poised to elevate the user experience and solidify Honda’s position as a leading player in the electric scooter market.

 

 

TVS Innovations

 

TVS unveiled the iQube ST 2025 Concept, a scooter designed specifically for urban commuters. This electric marvel boasts an impressive range of approximately 140 km, ensuring a smooth and hassle-free journey. The scooter’s powerful motor, enhanced by cutting-edge technology, swiftly accelerates from 0 to 60 km/h in just 4.2 seconds, striking a perfect balance between performance and efficiency.

Additionally, TVS showcased its CNG-powered two-wheeler, the TVS Jupiter CNG concept, which incorporates bi-fuel technology. This innovative scooter offers enhanced fuel efficiency and reduced emissions, providing a cost-effective and environmentally friendly commuting solution for readers seeking sustainable options.

 

 

Bajaj

 

Bajaj revamped its classic Chetak series with the introduction of the new Bajaj Chetak 35 Series Electric. This model retains the iconic scooter design while incorporating cutting-edge electric technology. It offers an impressive range of up to 95 kilometers per charge, making it an ideal choice for daily commutes. With a top speed of 70 kilometers per hour, the Chetak strikes a perfect balance between performance and practicality. Additional features like regenerative braking and smartphone connectivity provide real-time battery updates, ensuring a modern and user-friendly experience.

Bajaj also showcased the Bajaj Freedom 125, the world’s first CNG motorcycle. Powered by a 125cc air-cooled engine that produces 9.5 horsepower and 9.7 Newton-meters of torque, the bike achieves an impressive top speed of 90.5 kilometers per hour when fueled by CNG and 93.4 kilometers per hour when fueled by petrol.

 

 

Ola Electric

 

Ola Electric’s latest creation, the S1 Gen 3, boasts remarkable advancements in battery technology, offering enhanced range and lightning-fast charging times. With an estimated range surpassing 150 kilometers, this scooter is a versatile choice for both urban and suburban commuters. It features a range of smart connectivity options, including over-the-air updates, GPS navigation, and integrated music controls. The scooter’s sleek and customizable design, complemented by smart lighting options, enhances both its aesthetic appeal and practicality. Built on the Gen 3 platform, it incorporates a magnetless motor and upgraded battery technology, resulting in a significant 26% improvement in overall performance.

 

 

Hero MotoCorp

 

Hero MotoCorp’s Vida Z is designed for families, offering a spacious floorboard and a comfortable seat with a backrest. It provides flexible battery options, ranging from 2.2 kWh to 4.4 kWh, catering to various needs and performance requirements. As the most affordable model in the Vida lineup, it appeals to a broad range of customers. Equipped with a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM), the Vida Z ensures efficient power delivery and a smooth riding experience, seamlessly blending practicality with cutting-edge technology.

 

 

Suzuki Motorcycle India

 

Suzuki Motorcycle India unveiled its first electric scooter, the e-Access, as a sustainable alternative to its popular petrol-powered Access model. Powered by a 3.07 kWh battery, the e-Access boasts an impressive range of 95 km per charge, making it an excellent choice for city commuting. Equipped with a TFT LCD color screen and smartphone connectivity through the Suzuki Ride Connect-E App, the scooter offers three ride modes: Eco, Ride A, and Ride B, along with a convenient reverse mode. A multi-function switch with a keyless function further simplifies the user experience.

In addition to the e-Access, Suzuki Motorcycle India also highlighted its Gixxer SF 250, a flex fuel bike equipped with a 250cc single-cylinder engine that delivers 27.5 bhp and 22.5 Nm on E85 fuel. Suzuki has enhanced key components such as the injector, fuel pump, ECU, and valves to ensure compatibility with E85 fuel.

 

 

Yamaha

Yamaha unveiled its hybrid technology with the Yamaha FZ-S Fi Hybrid. It features a 149cc single-cylinder, air-cooled engine that produces 12.4PS and 13.3Nm, paired with a 5-speed gearbox. The inclusion of a mild hybrid assist system enhances torque, facilitating quicker overtakes and improved fuel efficiency. Moreover, it boasts a new TFT display with Bluetooth connectivity, offering turn-by-turn navigation and enhanced safety features like traction control and ABS.

Beyond these well-known brands, several startups and companies showcased their innovative and captivating two-wheelers at the Bharat Mobility Expo 2025.
